Marmite Cheesy Garlic Bread
Makes: 1 loaf
Preparation Time: 45 minutes Baking Time: 20 – 30 minutes
Ingredients
| 500 | g | Cake flour |
| 5 | ml | Sugar (1 tsp) |
| 10 | ml | Salt (2 tsp) |
| 30 | g | Margarine (2 Tbsp) |
| 10 | g | Anchor Instant Yeast (1 packet) |
| 320 | ml | Lukewarm water (1⅓ cups) |
Filling:
| Cheddar cheese, grated |
| Margarine |
| Garlic, chopped |
| Parsley, chopped |
| Marmite |
| Salt |
Method
- Mix cake flour, sugar, and salt together. Rub in the margarine with your fingertips.
- Add Anchor Instant Yeast and mix. Add lukewarm water to the flour mixture to form a soft dough.
- Knead dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough on a lightly floured surface, cover with greased plastic, and rest for 10 minutes.
- In the meantime, make the garlic butter. Mix the margarine, garlic, and salt together. Set aside.
- Knock down the dough and roll into a strand of about 40 cm.
- Cut the strand in half, place strands next to each other, and cut into 24 equal pieces. Keep covered.
- Flatten a piece of dough and spread the garlic butter over the surface, followed by ½ teaspoon
(2 ml) Marmite and a sprinkle of cheese. - Place another flattened piece of dough on top and repeat step 8 until all the dough and filling has been used.
- Place the stacked dough into a baking pan, cover with greased plastic, and allow to rise for 30 minutes. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for 20–30 minutes.
