Bovril Pilchard Ragout
Makes: 4 – 6 portions Cooking: Simmering Preparation Time: 20 – 25 minutes Baking Time: 15 minutes
Ingredients
| 30 | ml | Olive oil (2 Tbsp) |
| 1 | Medium onion, chopped | |
| 1 | Garlic cloves, chopped | |
| 3 | Mixed peppers, chopped (1 of each colour) | |
| 410 | g | Pilchards (1 Tin) |
| 410 | g | Baked Beans (1 Tin) |
| 5 | ml | Salt (1 tsp) |
| 5 | ml | Black pepper (1 tsp) |
| 10 | ml | Bovril (1 ½ tsp) |
Method
- In a saucepan, heat the oil over medium heat. Sauté onion and garlic for 3 minutes until soft. Add the peppers and cook for a further 2 minutes.
- Add pilchards into the onion mixture. Stir in the baked beans and gently simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Season with salt and pepper. Stir in the Bovril and simmer for about 3 minutes. Serve hot.
